Since 2015 Vagelis has been involved in organizing and teaching Mountaineering and rock climbing courses for beginners and interemediate level students. He has participated in trainer courses of HFMC and has attended first aid seminars.

Since 2001 he has been one of the most active members of Athens Hiking Club in mountaineering and climbing, and for many years he was the most active climber in the club. Since 2017 he has been an active member of HMGA.

In 2005 he attended the alpine camp of HFMC in the Alps and in 2007 he took part in a mountaineering expedition in the Indo-Caucasian mountains of Pakistan.  He has climbed most of the Greek headwalls ( Varasova, Meteora, Gkiona, Vardousia, Olympus, Astraka, Gkamila, Tsuka Rossa) whilst maintaining a high level in sport climbing, completing routes graded 8b. Abroad, his activities were focused mainly on the Alps, climbing notable summits like Grandes Jorasses, Grand Capucin, Adolph Rey, Mont Blanc du Tacul, Point la Chenal, Aiguille du Midi, Tour Ronte, Enverse, Aiguille du Aim, Aiguille de Blatier. He has also climbed in the Dolomites, in Paklenica in Croatia and has also climbed icefalls in Cogne, Italy. Finally, his community service includes participation in 3 rescue missions.
